About Becca Benz

Welcome to the new and improved personal website of transgender model, writer, and activist Becca Benz! That’s me!!

Thanks for stopping by my site! This is a place where I can write and post pictures I’ve taken and share things about my life and to interact with all of you. Many of you already know I’m a model, but there is so much more to me than just that. I have been blogging since I first began my transition six years ago and I also write a weekly column called Through The Benz for Grooby.com and also write for Transformation Magazine. And I used to write a column for TransGlobal Magazine until it folded. And now I have this blog where I can open up and give people a chance to see a different side of me. I’ve always loved to write and I’m really excited about this blog and all the possibilities it has!

My modeling career has run it’s course and I’m more focused on writing now, but the modeling opened a lot of doors to some pretty amazing opportunities such as working fro Grooby Productions. But I’ve also led an interesting life before I ventured into modeling, including serving in the military, working at a university in a research center, managing environmental remediation projects for the federal government, working as a seasonal wild-land firefighter during summer breaks while in college, and working for the National Park Service on a backcountry trail crew! Along the way I got married, we had two sons, got divorced, and I was a single parent raising my sons for most of their lives. Throughout my life I have struggled with gender dysphoria, trying to figure out who and what I was and where I fit into the world. I have also struggled with severe depression and  at times have struggled to maintain hope. It’s been quite a journey but I survived and am happy and feel more alive than ever!

And I would love to hear from all of you! I hope you’ll enjoy what I post, and I look forward to hearing from you and getting your thoughts and having the opportunity to interact with all of you on a more personal level than what’s possible on social media sites. But you can still friend me on Facebook, tweet me, or e-mail me by using the links at the top. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

I still have a hard to using the word ‘fans” and accepting that I’m even popular enough to have fans! I still just think of myself as this regular person living a boring life, but I guess I have to realize that isn’t necessarily the case anymore. This past few years since I began my modeling career have been surreal in so many ways and something I never could have imagined myself doing. But it has been such an exciting time in my life and I have grown in so many ways, and none of this would have been possible without all the love and support I’ve received from everyone. No matter how far my modeling career takes me, the one thing I will always value the most is the friendships I have made because of it. Everyone I have met, fellow models, people in the industry, and most of all my fans, have been so welcoming and helpful, and that means more to me than you will ever know. So a big thank you for that!
